Short Ship Reasons

The Short Ship Reasons table is used to track why orders are short shipped (i.e., short shipped, wrong item ordered, item not available, etc.). The table essentially consists of a list of reasons why the quantity ordered did not ship. When used in conjunction with the Short Shipments Report, you can analyze why orders are being short shipped and then take corrective actions to prevent them from happening in the future.

Short ship reasons are assigned to sales orders in Shipping and Update Pick List when the difference between the ordered quantity and the shipped quantity is outside the short ship tolerance set up in Shipping Options.

A predefined short-ship reason – out of stock (OS) – is used when a sales a sales order line is marked as "out of stock" using the Out of Stock option. The "OS" reason type cannot be deleted; only the name can be changed.

Short Ship Reason ID	The two character code used to identify the short ship reason.
Short Ship Description	The short ship reason.
